Moderate to semi-challenging mountain biking can be found between Killington and Pittsfield on the Contest Trail System. Killington Mountain offers the highest level of challenge for the adventurous mountain biker. The gondola can whisk you and your bike up to the top of Killington Peak for your ride down, or for the ultimate challenge you can make a round trip pedaling excursion up and down the mountain. If road biking is your passion, here a few suggested loops: The Plymouth Loop, a moderate scenic lake route is about 32 miles long. The Killington/Ludlow loop through the scenic lake region is about 45 miles long. Silver Lake/ Barnard is a 62 mile loop offering moderate to challenging cycling. Tyson/Reading is a 45 mile ride referred to as the "Alps," suggested for expert bikers. Killington to Sugarbush is a 120 mile ride including 4-6 challenging mountain gap climbs. The immediate Killington area itself provides the cycling enthusiast with lots of challenging shorter climbs. We are happy to provide more detailed biking route information when you get here! |
Hiking
Only a 25 minute drive to the north of the Snowed Inn is the easy hike to Texas Falls through the picturesque forest to the breathtakingly beautiful waterfall. And not far away is the Robert Frost Trail, a short, but inspiring walk, punctuated by plaques with verses by the famed poet. |
